I have always been
A believer that the garden grows within
And I have always found
That tending of the garden brings love around
But as you plainly know
The love between you and I has failed to grow
And as I search my soul
I’ve found the cold winds that have come to blow
Tumbleweeds and dust
Our love is like the changes of the land
You were like a diamond in the rough
I hope that someday you will understand
Now time has had its way
Of causing this old town to decay
Like the boardwalks of these streets
The miners left for other rich retreats
And as you’ve come to know
We must go our separate ways
The street lamp glass is cracked
The season now has come to its full phase
Tumbleweeds and dust
The cobwebs fill the corners of our room
Like carriage wheels and rust
A marriage of them both there is no room
If you ever come around
I’ll be tending to the garden on this ground
If love should ever grow
We’ll plant more seeds for the children to sew
Tumbleweeds and dust
One never knows the direction of the wind
Like the last hand played gone bust
We can only nurture what comes from within
